Check out Lis's updated patio...
Estimated Time: 30 hours
Estimated Cost: $1,100

Lis has been wanting to install a brick patio in her back yard and finally took the plunge this summer.
After measuring everything 100x, she cleared away the grass and tamped down many bags of leveling sand to create a flat foundation for the bricks.
"It's still a work in progress, but I can't wait to add some landscaping and patio furniture to make it homier," says Lis.

Estimated Cost: $4,500
When Sam moved into her historical home in downtown Lake Orion, she knew she wanted to make updates while keeping the vintage charm.
Sam says, "Before the update, the bathroom walls were dark gray and made the tiny bathroom feel even smaller."
The renovation included new paint, board & batten, new subway tiles, as well as a bright shower curtain to lighten up the space.
Check out Sarah's fireplace upgrade...
Estimated Time: 6 hours
Estimated Cost: $400

Sarah is DIY-ing several projects in her condo, but the fireplace has been her favorite project so far.
The black panels from Amazon were easy to install, along with the gas fireplace insert.
"It's now a focal point for the living area without making the TV stand out, and it echos the sleek and modern feel of the rest of the home," says Sarah.
Whether you're DIY-ing or hiring professionals, a HELOC or Home Equity Loan could help you fund your next home upgrade.
