75 Years, 75 Stories

As we celebrate our 75th anniversary all year long, we're highlighting member stories from across the decades.

It was in 1997, I moved to Detroit to work for Chrysler MOPAR offices in Center Line. As I was signing my employment papers, they wanted me to share my bank account details to do a direct deposit of my paycheck. I remembered seeing a small credit union not too far from the Chrysler building and told my employer that I will be right back. 
 
I then walked into Motor Parts Federal Credit Union (MPFCU) to be greeted with a friendly smile by the teller. The next thing I know I have a bank account number, routing information, some temporary checks and other documents in my hand. I walked back in to the Chrysler office to finish my paperwork.
 
I have since moved out of Detroit and lived in other cities around the country including a 2-year stay abroad, worked for different companies, have opened other bank accounts including Big Banks but to this day, I have maintained MPFCU (now Cornerstone) as my primary bank with my paychecks still getting directly deposited.
 
The reason is very simple, Cornerstone has been in my corner from Day 1 back in 1997 to this day. Same exact service - easy to do banking with, simple, reliable, dependable, friendly, courteous and respectful. From address changes to wire transfers to bill pay to online banking to opening a CD account to phone support to chat support to emails, they just get things done.
 
You can say that I have been loyal to them but in all reality, they have been loyal to me, kind to me and for that I am very, very thankful!

Cornerstone has financed repair projects on my home, vehicles in my driveway, always with ease. In a day and age where electronic transactions are encouraged, Cornerstone has managed to find a nice balance between convenience and human interaction to make it a personal experience.

Being a Cornerstone member give me the freedom to save and spend and enjoy life.

Cornerstone means convenience to me. It's close by and the staff is soooooo friendly and helpful. They remember my name!  My kids have accounts, I have a personal account, a loan, and a business account.  
 
I look forward to my Friday visits to the bank. And, they have popcorn!

As a young graduate in 1973 I came in with my mom who had her account at the Center Line office.  If I remember correctly, think I needed to open a savings account with $10.  

At that time, I was seeking a loan to buy my new 1973 Dodge Challenger.  To this day it was my dream car. Which has left me being faithful keeping my account all these years. Many times over the years, when seeking information, I was always taken care of with satisfied answers.  I highly recommend anyone looking for a new financial institution to not look any further than Cornerstone Financial.

I signed up to purchase some furniture, and was told my payment would be $192.00, which was no problem till I got my second statement and it was every two weeks, not every month.

I couldn’t afford it. I came over to CCF and showed them the paperwork.  They worked with me to get a loan and I paid off the furniture. Then, she asked about my auto loan. I refinanced my auto through Cornerstone and am now saving over $100. Between the two bills, I am only paying $50.00 more a month. Thank you, Cornerstone!
